Walker Park Pavilion Fayetteville
This year there's a new format for Hiroshima Nagasaki Day to encourage new participation. We want to make a clear connection between old-thinking where atomic bombs could be dropped on civilians in 1945, and today when unmanned drones can be fired on shadowy enemies that turn out to be civilians, or used to threaten and spy on minority and dissenting voices.

Potluck picnic starts at 6:30 at Walker Park Pavilion.  Please bring a picnic dish to share, and your own dishes and flatware if you can.  We'll have some available for those who don't bring theirs.  OMNI will provide beverages

Program begins at 7:00 with an annual Proclamation and comments from Mayor Lioneld Jordan, music by Kelly Mulhollan and Warren Dietzel, poetry by Leah Gould and Vela Giri, and local speakers with good thinking about violence in our culture, and how the Hiroshima / Nagasaki bombs are connected to present reality.

There is a way forward, and we have options

Sunday August 25, 7:00 pm @ OMNI

Gladys Tiffany presentation about the values shift now going on in America, to open a dialogue among progressives.   We need to have this conversation together. Things are moving fast,  so this is a good time to begin.

Based on work by linguist George Lakoff, and others,  that demonstrates how close we are to shifting this troubled world in a more human- and earth-friendly direction.
